I reflected quite a lot on my complex relationship with climate change. At some point I strongly associated working on it with my identity, worshipped the idea. But later got disillusioned as I saw so much greenwashing and how people use it as a way to sell their products and ideas which in many cases worsen our quality of life.
I do believe that increase of carbon dioxide over the past 200 years is man made and we need to solve this. I differ in my approach to solution though.
I think we should become masters of climate with technology. The history of humanity is one of the mastery of climate. Buildings, infrastructure and all the built world is for us to survive and prosper in the climate that is by default deadly to us.
We shouldn't do anything that decreases our quality of life in order to solve climate change. We shouldn’t punish all industries that provide us with high quality goods and services but produce carbon dioxide. We shouldn’t have carbon tax for all.
I’m pro all technology that allows us to adapt to our ever changing climate. I’m pro technology that solves a climate change only if it’s also better, cheaper and leads to higher quality of life. I'm pro nuclear energy because it's a base predictable power supply with infinite potential. Not only it would make the energy and all our goods cheaper it would also allow us to economically suck carbon and other gases out of the atmosphere. That is the most direct way to solving and regulating the climate change that leads to human flourishing.
